Family Holiday Packages Cost A$2,210 to A$12,853 for 4

Quick Answer

Six destinations, one method: two adults and two children typed into the seller's own booking engine, four nights, one October term week against one January school-holiday week. Table 1 holds the totals, and the gap that decides most of these trips sits under "School Holidays or Term Time: Where the Premium Falls".

What a Family of Four Actually Pays for Family Holiday Packages

Every package on this search is advertised per person and then doubled. The card reads for two travellers, the photograph shows four, and the total a family of four would pay appears nowhere until you enter four travellers yourself. That is what this page did on 7 September 2026: two adults, two children, four nights, one departure city per destination.

The rule for choosing a property was mechanical: the first property in Jetstar Holidays' own listing for that destination, moving down the list only where it could not take four travellers on our dates. Each row is the cheapest four-traveller total that property returned, not a claim about the cheapest package in Australia.

Four-traveller totals: A$2,210 to A$12,853 for two adults and two children, four nights, flights included. Two of the six returned no term-week price at all.

Read from the Jetstar Holidays booking page on 7 September 2026 for two adults and two children, four nights. Where an advertised deal did not apply to four travellers the page substituted its own best available rate (as of September 2026, source: Jetstar Holidays). Gold Coast rooms on the term dates ran to A$4,306 at the same property, so each row is the floor of a range.

Put your own dates through both legs

Table 1 fixes the dates so the rows compare. Yours will not match, so run the package total against the do-it-yourself total for the week you can actually travel.

Compare the two totals

The Advertised Family Holiday Package Price Is Not the Family Price

Daydream Island shows the mechanism plainly. Its page carries two advertised cards, both departing Brisbane and ending 31 December 2026: three nights at A$844 per person, A$1,687 for two travellers, valued at A$2,452; and five nights at A$1,117 per person, A$2,233 for two travellers (as of September 2026, source: Jetstar Holidays). Each card lists four inclusions and then the words and 5 more, so five of the nine inclusions are not shown on the card at all.

Set the travellers to two adults and two children for 11 to 15 October 2026 and the page answers that the deal is unavailable, suggesting a change of dates or travellers. What it offers instead is a best available rate on a Resort Twin: flights plus four nights, A$2,834 for four travellers, carrying Wi-Fi, kids eat free, kids stay free and daily breakfast.

Those two prices are not comparable and are not meant to be. The advertised deal is a five-night product for two people with a credit attached; the family price is a different room at a different rate with a different inclusion list. A family budgeting from the poster figure of A$2,233 is budgeting from a quote the engine will not sell them.

Package or Do It Yourself: What You Can and Cannot Check

On 7 September 2026 four routes to a matching airfare failed, so this page prices the room half directly and publishes the residue rather than an assembled do-it-yourself total. The four routes and their failures are listed under Data Sources, so treat any figure claiming to be an exact do-it-yourself total with suspicion.

What is public is the seller's own valuation: Jetstar Holidays prints valued at A$2,452 beside the A$1,687 three-night Daydream card, its view of the parts rather than an independent build (as of September 2026, source: Jetstar Holidays).

What you can check in ten minutes is the room. Take the room type the four-traveller quote names, price the same nights on the hotel's own booking engine for the same four people, and subtract. What is left is what the bundle charges for four seats. We ran that on both domestic rows.

Row from Table 1 Package total Same room booked direct Left for four seats
Q1 Resort and Spa, OctoberA$2,210A$1,337A$873
Q1 Resort and Spa, JanuaryA$3,384A$2,488A$896
Daydream Island Resort, OctoberA$2,834A$1,248A$1,586
Daydream Island Resort, JanuaryA$2,426A$1,272A$1,154
Same four nights as Table 1, four travellers, Sydney to the Gold Coast and Brisbane to the Whitsundays. The residue runs A$218 to A$397 a seat.

Room-only totals read on 7 September 2026 from each hotel's own booking engine, same room, same nights, four travellers, rounded to the dollar (as of September 2026, sources: Jetstar Holidays, Q1 Resort and Spa, Daydream Island Resort). Q1's direct rate is a minimum-three-night discount with free cancellation and Daydream's is a thirty-day advance purchase without breakfast, while the package includes daily breakfast, so each residue is the generous version and four seats cost less than it shows.

The Gold Coast residue barely moved between the two weeks, A$873 against A$896, so the whole A$1,174 school-holiday premium on that row is the apartment rather than the airfare. Daydream's A$1,586 also has to carry the island ferry, which the resort's own engine sells only as a dearer Connections Package rate (as of September 2026, source: Daydream Island Resort).

School Holidays or Term Time: Where the Premium Falls

Two of the six destinations were cheaper in the January school holidays than in the October term week. The Daydream Island Resort Twin fell from A$2,834 to A$2,426, the same room from the same airport. Fiji fell further, A$12,399 to A$6,471, but only because a smaller room was bookable in January, and the suite itself fell only to A$11,080. Both are wet-season weeks in the tropics, and that is the trade being priced.

The other direction is steeper. Q1 Resort and Spa rose from A$2,210 to A$3,384, and the Four Points by Sheraton Phuket family suite rose from A$8,739 to A$12,853, a jump of A$4,114 for the same suite (as of September 2026, source: Jetstar Holidays). The school-holiday premium is a destination question rather than a calendar question, and it bites hardest where Australian families all arrive at once.

The state calendars decide who competes with you for those rooms. Queensland Term 1 starts Tuesday 27 January 2027, Victorian students return Thursday 28 January and New South Wales eastern-division students Wednesday 3 February (as of September 2026, sources: Queensland Department of Education, the Victorian Government and New South Wales Department of Education). That leaves a late-January window with Queensland back in class and the two largest source states not.

What Family Holiday Packages Include and What the Fine Print Hides

The inclusion list attached to a four-traveller quote is shorter than the one on the advertised card, and it is the only list that binds. Table 2 records what each four-traveller price carried, in the booking page's own words.

One of six four-traveller quotes carried a kids-eat-free line. One carried breakfast for two people on a booking for four.

Inclusions as printed on each four-traveller quote on 7 September 2026 (as of September 2026, source: Jetstar Holidays). The advertised cards list longer sets that did not survive the change to four travellers.

Daily breakfast for two, on a booking for four, is the line to read twice. So is a kids-eat-free label, because the resort sets that rule, not the reseller. Daydream Island's own site limits it to ages two to twelve, one meal per child per sitting from the children's menu with a paying adult, at named restaurants only (as of September 2026, source: Daydream Island Resort).

The same resort sells its own package direct on different terms: five nights minimum, paid in full and non-refundable, with a A$250 food and beverage credit and free ferry transfers. It publishes no room rate at all (as of September 2026, source: Daydream Island Resort), so comparing it means asking for a four-traveller total in writing.

Gold Coast, Cairns and the Queensland Islands for a Family of Four

The Gold Coast produced the cheapest term-week total and the largest bill sitting outside it: A$2,210 at Q1 Resort and Spa for a one-bedroom spa family apartment that sleeps four, flights from Sydney included, with Wi-Fi and parking and nothing else.

What no package carried is the reason most families go. A five-day multi park pass for a family of four triggers the four-or-more rate at A$636 rather than A$716 (as of September 2026, source: Village Roadshow Theme Parks), and the cheapest dated theme-park day for a family of four starts at A$276 at WhiteWater World, seasonally, or A$336 at Wet'n'Wild (priced in full in our Gold Coast theme parks cost guide). Dreamworld's cheapest one-day dated ticket is A$99 an adult and A$89 a child, and the flexible walk-up ticket prices the child at A$99 (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld). Add the passes and the cheapest package stops being the cheapest trip.

Family at a Gold Coast theme park, the cost that sits outside every package in this table

Cairns is where the filter bit hardest. Three Cairns properties returned no four-traveller price for 11 to 15 October 2026. On 10 to 14 January 2027 the same engine quoted the Cairns Plaza Hotel at A$2,403, the lowest school-week total in this table. Cairns is on Jetstar Holidays' destination list, so on those dates it had nothing at all to sell a family of four. Our Cairns versus Gold Coast comparison takes the two Queensland options apart day by day.

Fiji, Bali and Phuket Family Holiday Packages for Four

Fiji is where the room the engine has left decides the bill. At the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa the same four people cost A$12,399 in the October term week and A$6,471 in the January school-holiday week: same resort, same travellers, and all that changed was which room was still bookable, a two-bedroom suite with club lounge access against a 2 Double Garden View room. On the October dates twenty-one room options came back unavailable, most of them because they could not take four people. Suite against suite the resort barely moved, A$12,399 to A$11,080, so most of that A$5,928 gap is availability rather than season. One property down the list, the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort quoted A$7,246 for an ocean front room that sleeps four.

Our own Fiji figures measure a different thing: a budget family week from A$1,949 per person (published in our Fiji family resorts guide, last updated April 2026), which is not a packaged total.

Bali behaved differently again. Three properties in a row had no room for two adults and two children on the October dates. In January the first of them, The Jayakarta Bali, priced four travellers at A$4,682, and how it did that matters: the room line reads special offer, two standard double or twin rooms. Two rooms changes the fine print from breakfast counts to who sleeps where. Our Bali with kids guide puts a whole trip for four at A$3,800 to A$9,500 (published in that guide, last updated April 2026). Check current Bali room rates for two adults and two children and set the room half against the packaged number.

Phuket ran the widest gap of the four properties that offered the same room in both weeks, which makes it the cleanest read in the table: A$8,739 in October and A$12,853 in January for the same two-bedroom family suite. Check current Gold Coast room rates for two adults and two children if you would rather run the residue test domestically, where the room is most of the bill.

Family Holiday Tour Packages Versus Resort Packages

Family holiday tour packages and family holiday packages are sold in the same words and are not the same product. A resort package is what this page has been pricing: flights, a room, a short inclusion list, your days left unplanned. An escorted family tour is a fixed itinerary with a guide, transport, most meals and a group, quoted per person with a child rate by age.

The practical difference is where the risk sits. A resort package leaves you to price attractions, transfers and meals yourself, which is where the Gold Coast pass bill appeared. A tour quotes those in and charges for the certainty. Either way the test is the one Table 2 applies: ask for the four-traveller total in writing, with the child rate stated by age.

Club Med markets all-inclusive family holidays here and publishes a child rule rather than a child price, so the flights half still has to be priced separately (as of September 2026, source: Club Med Australia). Our guide to what all-inclusive actually includes covers the rest.

Which Family Holiday Package Is Right for Your Family?

Choose the package if the four-traveller quote names a room that sleeps four on the booking page itself and carries a rule rather than a discount. Kids eat free and kids stay free survive a school-holiday week; a percentage off a rack rate does not.

Choose to book it yourself if the trip's largest line sits outside the bundle: park passes on the Gold Coast, the reef day in Cairns and the Whitsundays. No package in this table included either.

It depends in three cases: if your dates fall in January, because two destinations got cheaper that month and two got dearer; if you need four travellers in one room, because that constraint removed more properties than price did; and if you fly from Perth or Darwin, because every total in Table 1 was quoted from Sydney or Brisbane. Our best family destinations in Australia guide is the shortlist to run this test against.

The four-traveller total buys a room and four seats. The days between them decide whether the trip works, and none of them are in the package.

Our Take

Ask for the four-traveller total before comparing anything else. Across six destinations the advertised price was for two people, the family price came from a different room at a different rate, and two destinations had no family price at all in the term week. The A$10,643 spread in Table 1 is explained far less by the destination than by which room the engine had left that would take four people. Price the room first, work out the residue, and let the bundle argue for itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are family holiday packages cheaper than booking separately?
Sometimes. Sellers print their own valuation beside the price, A$1,687 for three nights valued at A$2,452, their view of the parts (as of September 2026, source: Jetstar Holidays). Subtracting the same room booked direct left A$873 and A$896 for four Sydney to Gold Coast seats and A$1,586 and A$1,154 for four Brisbane to Whitsundays seats (as of September 2026, sources: Jetstar Holidays, Q1 Resort and Spa, Daydream Island Resort).
What is included in a family holiday package?
Return economy flights from one named city, a room for a set number of nights, and a short inclusion list that shrinks once four travellers are priced. Of six four-traveller quotes taken on 7 September 2026, one carried kids eat free and two carried nothing beyond Wi-Fi and parking (as of September 2026, source: Jetstar Holidays). Transfers, meals beyond any credit and attraction tickets sit outside it.
Which Fiji family holiday packages include flights?
All of the reseller packages do, and they name the departure city. Priced for two adults and two children from Sydney for 11 to 15 October 2026, the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa returned one bookable option, a two-bedroom suite at A$12,399 for four travellers (as of September 2026, source: Jetstar Holidays). Our Fiji family resorts guide ranks the resorts themselves.
How much is a Bali family holiday package for a family of four?
On 7 September 2026 three Bali properties returned no four-traveller price for 11 to 15 October 2026, and the first quoted A$4,682 for 10 to 14 January 2027 from Sydney, flights and four nights included, as two standard rooms rather than a family room (as of September 2026, source: Jetstar Holidays). Our Bali with kids guide prices a whole trip for four at A$3,800 to A$9,500.
Are there all-inclusive holiday packages including flights from Australia?
Not in the Caribbean sense. Club Med markets all-inclusive family holidays to Australian families and publishes a child rule rather than a child price: kids under four stay free, up to 40 per cent off ages four to eleven and up to 20 per cent off teens twelve to seventeen (as of September 2026, source: Club Med Australia). The flights half still has to be priced separately.
When are family holiday packages cheapest, school holidays or term time?
It depends on the destination. The same Daydream Island room for two adults and two children cost A$2,834 in the October term week and A$2,426 in the January school-holiday week, while a Gold Coast apartment moved the other way, A$2,210 to A$3,384 (as of September 2026, source: Jetstar Holidays). Queensland's summer break runs 12 December 2026 to 26 January 2027 (as of September 2026, source: Queensland Department of Education).
Do kids stay free on family holiday packages?
On some quotes, and it covers the room only. Of six four-traveller quotes taken on 7 September 2026, one printed both kids stay free and kids eat free, and five printed neither (as of September 2026, source: Jetstar Holidays). At Daydream Island, kids eat free covers ages two to twelve, one children's-menu meal per sitting with a paying adult, at named restaurants (as of September 2026, source: Daydream Island Resort).

Data Sources and Verification

Every four-traveller price on this page was read off the Jetstar Holidays booking page in a real browser on 7 September 2026, with two adults, two children, no infants, four nights, and the departure city named in each row. Property selection followed one rule: the first property in that destination's own Jetstar Holidays listing, and where it could not take four travellers on our dates, the next one down until one could. Gold Coast property 6317 was tried first and returned rooms sleeping three with the message that the room cannot accommodate the selected number of travellers, so property 6897 was used. Cairns properties 855241 and 769970 and Bali properties 33437 and 37547 returned no four-traveller price on the October dates and are recorded as tried. Four separate attempts to price a matching airfare independently on the same day failed, so no independent do-it-yourself total is published here: Jetstar booking deep links returned a page not found, the Jetstar home page widget dropped the route on submission, Expedia Australia returned a bot check, and Google Flights returned its own home page. In place of that, the two domestic rows were priced the other way: the same room, the same nights and the same two adults and two children were booked through each hotel's own engine on 7 September 2026, giving A$1,337.40 and A$2,487.60 for the Q1 Resort and Spa 1 Bedroom Spa Family and A$1,248.00 and A$1,272.00 for the Daydream Island Resort Twin, and the difference from the package total is published in Table 4 as the residue for four seats. Both direct rates carry an advance-purchase condition and the Daydream rate includes buffet breakfast, so each residue understates rather than overstates the seat cost. No Jetstar published deal fare was captured on either route, so no fare comparison is made. School term and holiday dates come from the three state education authorities directly. The Gold Coast multi park pass figures come from Village Roadshow Theme Parks; the A$276 and A$336 dated-day figures are our own Gold Coast theme parks cost guide's baskets for a family of four and are attributed to that guide rather than to the operator. Fiji and Bali whole-trip ranges are reused unchanged from the two Endless Travel Plans guides linked in those sections, each last updated April 2026, and are per-person figures where labelled as such.

Prices checked 7 September 2026 and subject to change. Package availability moves daily, and the advertised cards carry their own travel periods and blackout dates.
