Gold Coast Theme Parks: The $416 Day a $376 Date Beats

Quick Answer

Most families start by asking which Gold Coast theme park is best, then find the real question is which ticket route they can price before the card comes out. On 1 September 2026 the three Village Roadshow ticket pages showed us no prices; re-checked in a full browser session on 2 September 2026, all five parks published dated day prices, and the cheapest dated day for four is Wet'n'Wild at $336 (as of September 2026, sources: Dreamworld and Village Roadshow Theme Parks). Start with the priced day table below, then run your dates through the budget calculator.

What a Gold Coast Theme Park Day Costs a Family of Four

The Coomera exit comes up fast on the M1, and by then the money decision is made. Two adults, two kids, and a screenshot of whatever somebody bought at 11pm the night before. That screenshot is worth between $276 and $416.

Family of four here means two adults and two kids, roughly 6 and 10, inside every child band on this coast. Every price is in Australian dollars, read off the operator selling the ticket. Here's what one park day costs, and where the wall is.

Every park in the table now carries a published price. Cheapest published dated day for four: $276 at WhiteWater World, which is seasonal, then $336 at Wet'n'Wild; the ride parks share $376, Dreamworld dated, Movie World and Sea World Single Day, with the Dreamworld day undated at $416 Flexible. (ETP baskets; components sourced above, as of September 2026, sources: Dreamworld and Village Roadshow Theme Parks.) Buying at the gate adds $10 a ticket at Dreamworld and $15 to $20 at the Village Roadshow parks, per each operator's listed gate prices. The Village Roadshow prices appeared in a full browser session on 2 September 2026; the same pages showed no prices when we first checked on 1 September.
Families walking a Gold Coast theme park midway past rides on a summer afternoon

That $40 gap between the two Dreamworld rows is the whole game. Lock a date and you pay from $376; keep 12 months of options open and you pay $416 (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld). Families travelling in the school holidays know their date by the time they book flights, so the flexible ticket is $40 of insurance against a decision they've already made.

Stack two published park days and four people are at $652 before a single hot chip, which is how a three-park stay lands inside the AUD $600 to $900 ticket band our Gold Coast versus Sunshine Coast comparison maps. Since 2 September 2026 you can run that arithmetic at all five parks; the 3 Day Multi Park Pass at $149 a person is the Village Roadshow answer to it (as of September 2026, source: Village Roadshow Theme Parks).

Two adults, two kids, three park days. Put your own dates in first.

The Five Parks Scored for Families (criteria disclosed)

Rankings on this coast run on ride counts, which don't tell you whether a 4-year-old lasts until lunch or whether you can budget the day. So we built the Gold Coast Park-Day Score: five factors, each out of 5, all checkable on the operator's own pages.

How each factor is scored

Scores of 4 and 2 sit between those anchors: the only 4 below is a wet-weather 4, several named indoor venues and no water park on the same ticket. Ties break on value, then age span, then wet-weather cover, which is what orders the three parks that finish level on 19. We'd rather show you the ruler than the verdict. Rescored 2 September 2026 after the Village Roadshow prices appeared: all three of its parks moved from a 1 to a 3 on value.

The top three

21/25 Dreamworld, best for a mixed-age carload. Kenny and Belinda's Dreamland is the coast's deepest single under-8 precinct at eight attractions, and it sits on the same map as two 120cm thrill rides. The day, the water park and the annual route all carry a published number, and its wet-weather cover is the strongest of the five (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld).

20/25 Sea World, best for a kid who'd rather watch animals than queue. Nickelodeon Land handles the small end, Leviathan and Storm Coaster the big end, and Shark Bay, Penguin Encounter and Polar Bear Shores give three indoor rooms when the storm hits. Since 2 September 2026 it's priceable in advance too: Single Day $99 adult, $89 child (as of September 2026, sources: Sea World and Village Roadshow Theme Parks).

19/25 Warner Bros. Movie World, best for the 6-to-9 window. Kids' WB Fun Zone runs from Road Runner Rollercoaster to Looney Tunes Splash Zone, the coaster line-up covers the older end, and Justice League 3D gives it indoor cover the water parks lack. Single Day $99 adult, $89 child (as of September 2026, sources: Warner Bros. Movie World and Village Roadshow Theme Parks).

4WhiteWater World5535119/25$276
5Wet'n'Wild5535119/25$336
Every park scores 5 on age span and, since the Village Roadshow prices appeared, every park scores 3 on value; the gaps now open on kid zones and wet-weather cover. Movie World takes third on the wet-weather tiebreak; WhiteWater World and Wet'n'Wild tie on every factor and keep their prior order. Scored 1 September 2026, rescored 2 September 2026, from each operator's own pages.

How this was researched: every price, precinct name, height minimum and age band above came from the operator's own site on 1 September 2026, with the Village Roadshow ticket prices confirmed in a full browser session on 2 September 2026, never a reseller or a review page. Our approach lives on the methodology page, and our theme park ticket price comparison runs the same arithmetic in US dollars.

Which Gold Coast Park Fits Your Kids' Ages (height rules decide more than reviews do)

Reviews argue about which coaster is better. Height signs settle it at the gate. Dreamworld publishes a 120cm minimum on both The Gold Coaster and the Giant Drop (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld). A 6-year-old at 115cm is riding neither.

The softer end is published too. Dreamworld's Big Red Boat Coaster carries a 90cm minimum and a 105cm minimum depending on whether an adult rides along (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld). Movie World's marketing calls Justice League 3D a ride the whole family takes together, but the ride page sets a 90cm minimum, with 90cm to 110cm riders needing a responsible adult beside them (as of September 2026, source: Warner Bros. Movie World). Read the ride page, not the blurb.

Age bands matter as much as heights. At the Village Roadshow parks, children from 3 to 13 pay the child fare and under-3s enter free with a paying adult (as of September 2026, source: Wet'n'Wild). So a family with a 2-year-old and a 10-year-old buys three tickets, not four.

So where does each age get a full day? A 3 to 5-year-old gets one in Kenny and Belinda's Dreamland or WhiteWater World's Wiggle Bay (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld). A 6 to 9-year-old is the sweet spot for Movie World's Kids' WB Fun Zone, which runs from Road Runner Rollercoaster to Looney Tunes Splash Zone (as of September 2026, source: Warner Bros. Movie World). From about 10, the 120cm rides open and the big two start earning their ticket. Kids who find queues and noise hard have their own constraints, covered in our sensory-friendly theme parks guide.

Two kids, five parks, one day each. Settle it before the back seat does.

Put the park choice to a family vote

Which one's right for your family?

Youngest under 5 and still napping: one gate, and a park naming a purpose-built under-8 area. Two of the five name two areas each, WhiteWater World and Wet'n'Wild, and both now publish a price; the ride park with the deepest single under-8 precinct is still row one. Our best theme parks for toddlers guide covers the global picks.

You need the total, not the ranking: buy on visit count, not brand. Weighing a non-park Queensland trip? Our Cairns versus Gold Coast comparison sets the two coasts side by side.

A water day rather than a ride day: WhiteWater World costs $276 for four and closes seasonally; Wet'n'Wild costs $336 for four on a dated ticket. The wider field is in our best water parks for families ranking.

Park week or a flight out? Compare the spend above with a package week in our Bali with kids guide for Australian families; our best theme parks for families ranking covers the rest.

Dreamworld Tickets and Passes: Every 2026 Price

Dreamworld is the one operator here that puts a full rate card on the open web (all figures as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld).

Two things catch families out. The multi-day tickets carry one price with no child band, so four people on the 3 Day Ticket pay $149 four times rather than an adult and child pair. And neither annual pass shows a child price, which is why the score gives Dreamworld a 3 on value.

The All Worlds pass covers 12 months at Dreamworld and SkyPoint plus seasonal WhiteWater World entry, a Happy Halloween ticket on selected October nights, a Winterfest ice skating session and 10% off merchandise (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld). Dreamworld's own site states parking is free, with the guest car park at the entrance. The rest publish nothing about parking.

About that $49 Dreamworld ticket: none appeared on Dreamworld's pages on 1 September 2026, where the lowest single-day figures were from $99 an adult and from $89 a child (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld). The site's own wording is that prices vary with current promotions, so treat a $49 figure quoted elsewhere as a past offer.

The Village Roadshow Parks and the Super Pass

Movie World, Sea World, Wet'n'Wild and Paradise Country share one operator and one ticketing system, and here's the part worth knowing: on 1 September 2026 its ticket pages showed us the product list with no dollar figures, and on 2 September 2026, in a full browser session, the same pages showed every price. Here is the rate card as published (all figures as of 2 September 2026, source: Village Roadshow Theme Parks).

One caution stands: whether the prices render seems to depend on how the page is loaded, because the same pages carried no figures a day earlier. If a ticket page shows you products with no dollar amounts, reload it in a regular browser before trusting a figure quoted anywhere else. A price you can't check isn't a price.

Two details deserve a flag. The operator's own banner says tickets cost up to $10 more at the gates, but its dated-ticket pages list gate prices $15 to $20 above online, so treat the online price as the price. And a family of four on the 5 Day Multi Park Pass triggers the four-or-more rate automatically: $636 instead of $716 (as of September 2026, source: Village Roadshow Theme Parks).

Single-Park, Multi-Park or Annual: The Break-Even

For one visit, a day ticket wins. For two, it stops winning fast. The table runs published adult prices only, because no child annual price exists.

Route (adult)1 visit2 visits3 visitsBreak-even
Dreamworld 1 Day Dated Ticketfrom $99from $198from $297Cheapest at one visit only
Dreamworld Annual Pass$149$149$1492 visits
All Worlds Annual Pass$169$169$1692 visits
Dreamworld annual passes, child priceNot publishedNot publishedNot publishedNot published
Movie World or Sea World Single Day dated$99$198$297Cheapest at one visit only
Village Roadshow Annual Saver Pass$189$189$1892 visits
On published adult prices, the annual route at either operator pays for itself on the second visit: Dreamworld's $149 or $169 against from $198 for two dated days, and the Village Roadshow Annual Saver's $189 against $198 for two Single Days. One visit and the dated day ticket wins at either gate. (as of September 2026, sources: Dreamworld and Village Roadshow Theme Parks)

The honest answer is a boring one. Interstate for one week with a single Dreamworld day in it? Buy the dated ticket, skip the pass. Within driving distance, or planning a return inside 12 months? It's paid for itself before your second car park. And the All Worlds tier costs $20 more than the Dreamworld-only pass while adding SkyPoint plus seasonal WhiteWater World entry (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld), which against a $79 WhiteWater World adult ticket is the least argued-over upgrade here.

The Cheapest Legit Ticket Route (Online, Locals, RACQ, Resellers)

Four routes exist. Two are worth your time.

Buy online, always. Dreamworld states it plainly: "Prices displayed are online only, gate price $10 extra" (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld). The Village Roadshow banner says up to $10 more at the gates, but its own dated-ticket pages list the gate at $15 to $20 above online, $114 against $99 at Movie World and Sea World, $109 against $89 at Wet'n'Wild (as of September 2026, source: Village Roadshow Theme Parks). For four people that's $40 to $80 for the sin of buying in the car park.

Locals offers are the second route, and they're narrow: "Locals offers are valid for QLD and NTH NSW (2450 - 2490) residents only" (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld). Driving up from Sydney? Not you.

Payment plans are published rather than discounted: every headline Dreamworld product carries a four-payment option, from $24.75 on an adult day ticket to $49.75 on the Gold Coast Fun Pass (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld). That spreads the cost, it doesn't lower it.

Membership and reseller routes go cold. RACQ lists four Dreamworld products but shows no price to a non-member, and the resellers show "from" figures rather than the adult and child bands you need. Hold an RACQ membership? Log in and compare the member figure against the $376 in the first table. Nobody else can run that one for you.

Booking beds at the same time? Day tours and park entry sit on Viator, and family apartments near the Coomera parks are on Expedia. Open the park's page in a second tab and buy the cheaper column; on Dreamworld tickets, the park's own site publishes the full card.

Timing note: Queensland state schools break from Saturday 19 September to Monday 5 October 2026, then Saturday 12 December 2026 to Tuesday 26 January 2027 (as of September 2026, source: Queensland Department of Education). That's when the parks are fullest and the dated ticket's cheapest dates go first.

Our take

Dreamworld holds the top spot on evidence rather than affection. Four people can build the day from published numbers, from $376 dated up to $416 flexible, with free parking and two 120cm thrill rides on the same map as the coast's deepest under-8 precinct (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld). Add WhiteWater World on the All Worlds pass and a rain day and a heat day are both covered for $169 an adult.

This isn't a verdict on the other parks' rides. It's a verdict on planning, and we said we'd rescore the moment the Village Roadshow parks published adult and child day prices. On 2 September 2026 they did, and two moved up: Sea World to second, Movie World to third. Dreamworld still wins on the whole card. Run your dates through the family budget calculator, and if you are still choosing a Queensland base, the Gold Coast versus Sunshine Coast comparison is next.

Gold Coast Theme Parks FAQ

How much are Dreamworld tickets for a family of four?
A family of four pays from $376 for a Dreamworld 1 Day Dated Ticket, built from two adults at from $99 and two children at from $89, or $416 for the 1 Day Flexible Ticket at $109 and $99 (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld). Parking is listed as free, and buying online avoids the $10 per ticket gate surcharge.
Is the annual pass worth it for one visit?
No. For a single visit the dated day ticket at from $99 an adult beats the Dreamworld Annual Pass at $149 and the All Worlds Annual Pass at $169 (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld). Both passes break even on the second adult visit inside 12 months. No child price is published for either pass, so a family cannot cost the pass route in full.
What are the $49 Dreamworld tickets?
No $49 ticket was published on Dreamworld's ticket pages on 1 September 2026. The lowest published single-day figures were from $99 an adult and from $89 a child (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld). The park states that prices vary with current promotions, so a $49 figure is best read as a past promotional offer rather than a standing rate.
Which Gold Coast park suits a 4-year-old?
Dreamworld suits a 4-year-old best of the five, on published evidence. Kenny and Belinda's Dreamland holds eight attractions built for small kids, and the Big Red Boat Coaster carries a 90cm published minimum (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld). Movie World's Justice League 3D sets a 90cm minimum too, with 90cm to 110cm riders accompanied by a responsible adult.
Do the Village Roadshow parks and Dreamworld share a pass, and is WhiteWater World included?
No, they run separate ticketing. Dreamworld's All Worlds Annual Pass at $169 covers 12 months at Dreamworld and SkyPoint plus seasonal entry to WhiteWater World (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld). Movie World, Sea World, Wet'n'Wild and Paradise Country sit on their own passes: Multi Park Passes at $149 to $199 a person and annual tiers at $189 and $229 (as of September 2026, source: Village Roadshow Theme Parks).
Are gate prices higher than online?
Yes, at both operators. Dreamworld states that prices displayed are online only and the gate price is $10 extra (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld). The Village Roadshow banner says up to $10 more at the gates, but its dated-ticket pages list gate prices $15 to $20 above online (as of September 2026, source: Village Roadshow Theme Parks). For two adults and two kids that is $40 to $80 lost by buying on arrival.
What are Dreamworld's opening hours?
Dreamworld publishes hours day by day on its park information page rather than as a fixed year-round schedule, and the days we checked showed 10:00am to 5:00pm and 10:30am to 4:00pm (as of September 2026, source: Dreamworld). WhiteWater World runs as a seasonal water park with hours that vary through the year, and it was closed on both days we checked.

Data Sources and Verification

Every ticket price, precinct name, height minimum, age band and school date on this page was read from the organisation that owns the fact, on 1 September 2026, with the Village Roadshow ticket prices confirmed in a full browser session on 2 September 2026. Where an operator publishes no price, this page says so rather than borrowing a figure from a reseller or a review site.

Prices and hours checked 1 and 2 September 2026 and subject to change without notice, particularly around Queensland school holidays. Where a figure could not be read from the operator's own site, this page reports that rather than estimating.
