Disney World Vacation Packages: $200 Down, $4,838.82 Later

Quick Answer

The total is the number everyone compares, and on Disney's booking pages it tells you the least. The package took $200 to hold on 14 September, while the separate route's four tickets cost $3,065.57, nonrefundable, the moment you buy them (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World).

Disney World Vacation Packages vs Booking Separately: The Same Trip, Priced Twice

We priced one trip twice on Disney's website on 14 September 2026: two adults and two children aged 10 and 6, seven nights in a Standard Room at Disney's Pop Century Resort, and 5-day base tickets. Our first week, November 8 to 15, 2026, returned no Pop Century room, so the basket moved to Sunday January 10 to Sunday January 17, 2027 (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World).

Disney sells tickets in two age bands, Ages 10+ and Ages 3-9, so the 10-year-old pays the adult price. The package arrives as one number with no room, ticket or tax lines; Disney's 2026 package terms say prices "cannot be broken down into individual package component prices" (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World). Its "No Ticket" option priced the room at $1,766.27, the room-only cart's total after tax, so the package total includes tax.

DifferenceThe package costs $6.98 more

Read from Disney's rate pages, ticket store, carts, dining, Memory Maker, parking and Lightning Lane pages and 2027 package terms on 14 and 15 September 2026 (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World). The separate total adds the room-only and ticket carts (ETP basket; components sourced above, as of September 2026). Disney doesn't say what the $6.98 is.

What the $6.98 buys: $200 down instead of $3,065.57 in tickets on day one, and free cancellation until December 11, 2026.

Settle package or separate for your own week

Table 1 is one week at one resort. Put your dates into both legs and see which route wins.

Compare the package with booking separately
The Millennium Falcon in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, a land Walt Disney World has at Disney's Hollywood Studios

At Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, a moderate, the same family and dates came to $5,598.20 as a package and $5,591.23 separately, a $6.97 gap (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World).

Our read: on Disney's own site a package isn't a discount. It's a payment plan with a $200 cancellation fee attached.

What a Disney World Package Actually Includes

Disney's own description: a package "includes theme park tickets, accommodations and a dining plan, with options to fit your style and budget" (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World). The dining plan is optional, and the rest of the difference sits in the terms.

The dining plan, which a room-only booking can't buy

The room-only cart says it plainly: to add a dining plan, "you must have a Disney Resort Hotel Package (room and theme park tickets)" (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World). For this family's seven nights, the Quick-Service Dining Plan took the package to $6,337.94, which is $1,499.12 more. Disney prints no per-person plan price, so a quote inside the booking flow is the only way to see yours.

Families arriving in 2026 can get a free dining plan for kids aged 3 to 9 with a Disney Resorts Collection room and a plan for every guest 10 and up; 2027 arrivals, like this family, get "up to 20%" off kids' dining instead (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World). We'd add a plan to prepay food, not to save money.

The payment schedule, which keeps most of the money in your account

The package took $200 to hold and wants the other $4,638.82 by 30 days before arrival. Booked separately, the four tickets cost $3,065.57 the day you buy them and are nonrefundable, while the room balance waits until check-in (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World). Book in mid-September and most of the money stays yours for close to three months, which we think is worth $6.98.

The Lightning Lane head start, which isn't a package perk

Disney's Pop Century page lets guests "staying at Disney Resort hotels or other select hotels" buy Lightning Lane passes up to 7 days before their stay, package or not, while guests at other hotels wait until 3 days before their park day (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World). Prices show only in the My Disney Experience app, up to 21 days ahead. Our Lightning Lane strategy guide covers which pass to buy at all, and our parks strategy guide times the rides worth one.

Memory Maker is the same story: the room-only cart says it needs a package, but Disney sells it on its own (Table 1).

The All-Inclusive Disney World Package Doesn't Exist (Here's What People Mean)

Nothing in Disney's booking flow is called all-inclusive. Its package definition names tickets, a room and a dining plan, and stops there (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World). What all-inclusive searchers usually want is the third part: food paid for before the trip.

The biggest version for 2027 is the Deluxe Table-Service Dining Plan, two table-service meals and one quick-service meal per night of stay. It lifted this family's package to $8,589.95, which is $3,751.13 more, a bigger number than the four park tickets (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World).

2027 dining plan Included per guest, per night of stay Package total for this family Added to the package
No dining planNothing$4,838.82$0
Quick-Service Dining Plan2 quick-service meals, 1 snack or drink, plus a refillable mug$6,337.94$1,499.12
Table-Service Dining Plan1 table-service meal, 1 quick-service meal, 1 snack or drink, plus the mug$7,159.58$2,320.76
Deluxe Table-Service Dining Plan2 table-service meals and 1 quick-service meal, among the items Disney lists$8,589.95$3,751.13
Deluxe Table-Service Dining Plan total for two adults and two children: $8,589.95, which is $3,751.13 above the same package with no plan.

Plan inclusions and totals read in Disney's package flow for this family, seven nights from January 10, 2027, on 14 September 2026 (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World). Added amounts subtract the no-plan total (ETP basket; components sourced above, as of September 2026).

So "all-inclusive" at Disney World buys prepaid meals and nothing else, and Disney's 2026 package terms say no refunds are made for unused meals (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World).

Costco, Get Away Today and the Agencies: Do They Beat Booking Direct?

Costco Travel, Get Away Today and Undercover Tourist sell Disney packages too; Expedia sells flights with hotels. None gave a like-for-like total for this family, so Table 2 compares terms.

Terms read on each seller's own site on 14 September 2026 (as of September 2026, sources: Walt Disney World, Costco Travel, Get Away Today, Undercover Tourist, Expedia). Get Away Today's Walt Disney World deposit answer names the $99 fee without placing it; its general layaway answer puts it inside the first $200.

Costco Travel's search for our November week returned no hotel and none of the four Walt Disney World package pages we checked carried a food and beverage credit (as of September 2026, source: Costco Travel).

We'd pick a third-party seller for its cancellation line, not its price: Undercover Tourist refunds a Disney package in full up to 8 days out, where Disney keeps $200 from 29 days out (as of September 2026, source: Undercover Tourist). Inside the last week its 5% fee passes Disney's $200 on any package over $4,000. If you haven't settled what to book first, our how to plan a Disney World trip guide puts it in order.

Disney World Vacation Packages With Airfare

Disney's own packages don't include flights. A panelist answer on Disney's planDisney site in April 2026 says "Walt Disney World Resort vacation packages do not include an option to book airfare" (as of September 2026, source: planDisney). Costco Travel sells airfare at extra cost with a $100 per person deposit plus the airfare (as of September 2026, source: Costco Travel), and Get Away Today wants airfare paid in full at booking (as of September 2026, source: Get Away Today).

Expedia's search from Chicago O'Hare for November 8 to 15, 2026 found Frontier nonstop at $276 a traveler round trip, American at $365 and United at $385, (as of September 2026, source: Expedia). Pop Century "does not allow 7-night stays for those dates"; the only Disney-owned resort priced was Coronado Springs, a moderate, at $10,320 for four with flights and no tickets.

Test it in two tabs. Price Disney's package for your week in one, then check Expedia's Orlando flight and hotel packages in the other. The link opens January 10 to 17, 2027, our Disney week, so change the dates to yours and add Disney's ticket price to Expedia's total before you compare.

When Booking Separately Wins

Booking separately wins when:

The first flip is a date band on this exact room; two other conditions point back to the package.

Disney's "Save Up to 25% on Rooms This Spring" offer takes 10% off Pop Century rooms on "most Sunday to Thursday nights from January 3 to February 25, 2027" (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World). For our Pop Century room that meant $209.06 a night on average before tax, against $224.29: $1,463.42 for seven nights instead of $1,570.00, or $106.58 less (ETP basket; components sourced above, as of September 2026). The booking flow showed Disney's spring package offer unavailable for this room and date, though the offer page lists Pop Century at $40 a night off those Sunday to Thursday nights on 4-night, 4-day or longer packages; check your dates (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World).

The second flip is who sells the tickets. Undercover Tourist, a ticket reseller, priced the same 5-day base ticket from January 10, 2027 at $741.16 for Ages 10+ and $729.32 for Ages 3-9, tax included (as of September 2026, source: Undercover Tourist): $2,952.80 for this family against Disney's $3,065.57. Keep Disney's ticket page in one tab and check Undercover Tourist's 5-day ticket price for your start date in the other; our Disney World tickets guide covers the other ticket routes.

Same family, same week Disney package Booked separately Gap
Pop Century, Disney tickets$4,838.82$4,831.84Package $6.98 more
Caribbean Beach, Disney tickets$5,598.20$5,591.23Package $6.97 more
Pop Century, Undercover Tourist tickets$4,838.82$4,719.07Package $119.75 more
Moving up a resort tier moved the gap by one cent; changing the ticket seller moved it by $112.77.

Disney figures from its booking flow and Undercover Tourist's 5-day ticket page for a January 10, 2027 start, read 14 September 2026 (as of September 2026, sources: Walt Disney World, Undercover Tourist). Separate totals and gaps are our arithmetic (ETP basket; components sourced above, as of September 2026).

The third flip is a shaky plan. Disney refunds a room-only deposit with at least 8 days' notice, while the package charges $200 from 29 to 2 days out (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World), which only helps if you haven't bought the nonrefundable tickets. Annual Passholders also get up to 35% off rooms from January 3 to April 29, 2027 (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World).

Back toward the package: 2026 arrivals need one for the free kids' dining plan offer, and Disney's "Save Up to $250 Per Night" offer covers only select 4-night, 4-day room-and-ticket packages, January 3 to July 28, 2027 (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World). Our Disney World on a budget guide covers the cuts outside both routes.

What Is the Average Cost of a Disney Vacation?

Disney doesn't publish an average. Our basket came to $4,838.82 for two adults and two children, seven nights at a value resort with 5-day tickets, before food and flights, and $6,337.94 with the Quick-Service Dining Plan (ETP basket; components sourced above, as of September 2026). Our Disney World family vacation cost breakdown builds the full trip budget.

What Is the Cheapest Month to Go to Disney?

Hands planning a trip over a paper world map with tickets, a camera and a sun hat

On Disney's 5-day ticket calendar, September 2026 start dates had the lowest per-day prices for ages 10+, from $113 a day, against from $144 in January 2027 and from $150 in November 2026 (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World). That matches the September pick in our cheapest time to visit Disney World guide. For weeks to avoid, see our best time to visit Disney World with kids guide, and our Disney World at Christmas cost guide prices the holiday week.

Our Take

Book the Disney package if you want a dining plan, arrive in 2026 and can use the free kids' dining offer, or want to hold the trip for $200 until 30 days out. On our January week that schedule cost $6.98.

Book separately if your dates fall inside a room-only offer, as this room did at $209.06 a night, or if reseller tickets put the separate route $119.75 ahead, as they did here. Either way, buy tickets last: they're the one part you can't get back.

Frequently Asked Questions About Disney World Vacation Packages

What is the cheapest month to go to Disney?
September, on Disney's own numbers. Its 5-day ticket calendar showed September 2026 start dates from $113 a day for ages 10+, against from $144 in January 2027 and from $150 in November 2026 (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World). Our cheapest time to visit Disney World guide lays out the cheap weeks and hotel seasons for 2026 and 2027.
What is the average cost for a Disney vacation?
Disney doesn't publish one. For two adults and two children, seven nights at Disney's Pop Century Resort with 5-day tickets came to $4,838.82 as a January 2027 package before food and flights, or $6,337.94 with the Quick-Service Dining Plan (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World). Our Disney World family vacation cost guide builds a full trip budget.
What is the 3-2-1 rule at Disney World?
It's a fan planning rule, not a Disney policy: pick 3 rides, 2 entertainment choices such as a show, parade or character meet, and 1 dining option for each park day. Reader's Digest credits it to Ashleigh Giliberto, a Miami travel planner at My Magical Trip, an authorized Disney vacation planner (as of September 2026, source: Reader's Digest).
What is not allowed to be worn at Disney?
Disney's park rules bar costumes for guests aged 14 or older, masks for guests 14 or older unless medically required, clothing that drags on the ground, and visible tattoos that could be considered inappropriate. Shoes and shirts must be worn at all times, and Disney can refuse entry for attire it considers inappropriate (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World).
How much spending money do you need for 2 weeks in Disney, Florida?
Disney publishes no spending-money figure, and this page priced one week. The Quick-Service Dining Plan added $1,499.12 to this family's seven-night package, with meals allotted per night of stay, so 14 nights needs its own quote (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World). For extras beyond tickets, hotel and meals, our Disney World family vacation cost guide sets a per-person daily budget.
When to avoid Disney World in 2026?
Our best time to visit Disney World with kids guide flags spring break, July 4th week, Thanksgiving week and Christmas through New Year's. Plan early for November too: when we checked on 14 September, Disney's Pop Century Resort had no room of any type for two adults and two children for November 8 to 15, 2026 (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World).
Is Disney free on your birthday?
No. Disney's birthday FAQ offers no free admission. What it offers free is a "Happy Birthday" button from any Guest Relations or Front Desk location, and it lists paid extras such as birthday cakes and in-room gifts (as of September 2026, source: Walt Disney World). Our Disney World tickets guide covers the cheapest ways to pay for the park days themselves.

Data Sources and Verification

Every Disney price here was read on disneyworld.disney.go.com on 14 September 2026, logged out with no promotion applied, for two adults and two children aged 10 and 6, staying January 10 to 17, 2027 (Pop Century had no room for November 8 to 15, 2026). Other sellers' terms were read on their own sites the same day.

How we checked these figures

Every Disney price on this page was read in a real browser on disneyworld.disney.go.com on 14 September 2026, with no login and no promotion applied, for two adults and two children aged 10 and 6. November 8 to 15, 2026 was tried first and returned no Pop Century room of any type under the standard room, package and holiday offer rates, so all Disney figures use January 10 to 17, 2027. The package total comes from Disney's ticket step and cart, where it is not itemized; the room-only total comes from a separate room-only cart, and the ticket total from Disney's ticket store cart for a January 10, 2027 start. The package flow's "No Ticket" price matched the room-only cart to the cent for Pop Century, and the same method gave the Caribbean Beach room figure, where no room-only cart was opened. The room-only spring offer average of $209.06 a night was re-read in the browser on the morning of publication; no cart total with tax was taken at that rate, so the saving is stated before tax. Disney's room-only terms give no deposit amount. Dining plan totals are Disney's package flow totals for this family; Disney publishes no per-person plan price, and no child Park Hopper price or Memory Maker add-on price was captured. Lightning Lane prices appear only in Disney's app, so none is printed here. Seller terms were read on each seller's site the same day: Costco Travel's terms and conditions page in the browser, Get Away Today's FAQ, and Undercover Tourist's package page and 5-day ticket page, where the January 10, 2027 prices were read after selecting that start date. No like-for-like package total was obtained from Costco Travel, whose search returned no hotel for the November dates, or from Get Away Today and Undercover Tourist, whose package builders were not run. Expedia fares and package prices come from a flight and a flight plus hotel search from Chicago O'Hare for November 8 to 15, 2026, the original basket week, and are not mixed with the January figures in any table. The 3-2-1 rule definition is Reader's Digest's; Disney publishes none.

Prices checked 14 September 2026 and subject to change. Disney prices rooms and tickets by date, and package quotes can change until a package is paid in full.
