Look at what the spread is not made of. Not the show, which arrives licensed with the same script, golden ticket and bell. What moves the number is the seat you're sold and the state you're standing in, and one of those you can control.

How the Polar Express Value Score Works

Where the upgrade sells you a table and the table costs about what four coach seats cost, buy it: four people facing each other beats four people sitting near each other with a toddler at the far end. Where it sells you a nicer seat on the same one-hour run and doubles the per-person price, pass. Rail Events lists 40 licensed locations for 2026, and the geography is lumpier than families expect. New York has four and New Jersey has two. When Polar Express Tickets Go On Sale (and What Sells Out First)

The calendar is what families get wrong, and it costs them the ride rather than the money. National Railroad Museum in Green Bay had already posted "2026 Tickets Are Sold Out" by mid-August, and it is the second-cheapest venue in the ranking rather than the dearest (as of August 2026, source: National Railroad Museum). On-sale months run from spring to early autumn and no two venues agree. Texas State Railroad wins on money and loses at the checkout screen, a fair trade if you know it's coming. B&O Railroad Museum buys twice the ride for about fifty dollars more, and Grand Canyon Railway would rank higher if it would name its taxes and fees.
